the girl who is doing the excited dance

What does it say about my life when the prospect of sitting at a table in a huge room pasting pictures on paper is the be-all, end-all event that has me counting down the days until the weekend? (btw, 4 to go!)
It says I AM A SCRAPPER!!!! lol!
Trying to come up with some fun, "Un-Birthday" stuff. And bringing some of my recent scraps for Poker!
(hopping up and down in anticipation)
hee, hee, hee!

the girl who is counting down

hee hee! Saturday is the Expo and Crop! I'm so excited (and I just can't hide it!) I get to crop with the Jens again. And I get to see all the new goodies because surely everyone has their CHA stuff by now! And hopefully my scrap sugar daddy will come through so I have a little play money, but even if I don't buy a thing, it will still be fun seeing it all. Planning what lo's to bring now...
5 MORE DAYS!

the girl who is exasperated

Sheesh...keeping the house in order is a bigger challenge than ever on the weekends. I have a routine during the week, and it works. Do you know why? Because 2 out of the 3 mess makers are in school. On the weekends they follow behind me messing up everything I've just cleaned. The worst part is that they are usually trying to "help" and it just breaks my heart to tell them "no." I mean, what message does that send?

Plan to scrap later tonight. Wish me luck.

the girl who has returned!

I'm baaack! Geez, what a journey. If I didn't love and miss my family so much, I would never travel with three small children and a husband who hates crowds during Spring Break. So, rather than go into detail about the horrors said scenario created, I'll let you just imagine it.
Now double that.
And then end with a $75 parking fee because DH didn't want to "deal" with Satellite parking.
Yuck.
anyway, a funny thing happened in the 2 years since I've seen my parents. They got old. Weird. My mother lost 30 lbs! She was skinnier than I ever remember seeing her, and it literally took me a little while to get used to the new mom. Her wrists are so dainty! My dad pretty much stayed the same, but both of them had wrinkles I just wasn't used to. It made me realize, yeah, they really are in their 60's now.
I had a lot of housing envy while I was there. Especially around my sister. She has such a cute little place and she and her husband have put so much work into it. Tons of accessories and knick-knacks and everything color coordinated and just perfect. Now excuses either. She has a five year old and a very demanding job. How can she keep things so much better than me? I really am resolved to be a better housekeeper, and stop spending money on scrapping supplies. Instead, I will spend them on home accessories. (ok, maybe some cardsock or really cute patterned paper, but nothing wild!)
So, I'm back and I'm taking tonight off. Tomorrow I will clean this place and purge my packrat ways.
Really!

the girl who has a list

To do tomorrow:
  • Beg to borrow luggage from friends
  • Fold and put away all of the laundry that got washed today
  • Buy primer, paint, brushes, masking tape and drop cloths for BIL to paint condo while we are gone. (Goodbye kiddo's artwork!)
  • Run to Downtoen Disney and pick up chocolate covered cherries from Ghirardelli's
  • Start and FINISH birthday project for Grandmother
  • Have house completely clean and in order before bed
  • Pack luggage for trip
  • Buy stuff to keep kiddos occupied on airplane ride and pack "Goodie Bags" to try and keep them reasonably calm.

Whew! I'm tired just thinking about it!

the girl who is going to enable

Scrapbook Boutique has Urban Chic and Hang Ten in! Yummy! (She didn't order Color me silly though, :( very sad on that!) ANNNNNND...Heidi Swapp! Not a lot of it, but its there! Some rub-ons, the new fuzzy ones!, and iron-ons, some plastic letters, which I didn't know about, round chipboard letters and some ghost letters. Not a huge selection, and expensive, but I had to get some anyway! Also, if you're a sticker fan, all roll stickers (except the theme park stuff) are 40% off! She's finally marking stuff down and getting it out the door.
Just doing my part to enable the scrapbooking community!

the girl who couldn't resist

So I broke down and had to organize my photos last night. I got ome from work and everyone was asleep! This is highly unusual in my house, esp when my bro-in-law is over. I have a miserable cold--bad enough to make me uncomfortable, but not so bad I can justify taking off from work--and I had taken some Day-Quill. This damn stuff actually had me operating on this insane energy level. I know not to that again. Anyway, had to do something, so I organized. I didn't sketch or pick out paper or anything, but I did divide up.
It's just a little thing to get the scrappy bug going. I have a cj to finish and mail off on our chronically late cj group, lol. We are so far behind we may never catch up, but we're keeping intouch and everyone knows where their journal is, so that's a good thing.
And (deep breath) I'm going to do my first ever photo swap. I actually got my nerve up and asked a Pea whose work I admire and she said yes! I feel like such a groupie (lol!) but her style is perfect for this particular photo and I can't wait! And to the Jen's, no it is not my scrappy girl crush, so you can stop laughing now!
I have half an hour before I have to go to work...the house is trashed, the groceries still aren't entirely put away and my bro-in-law is passed out on the couch. But I feel crappy and can't seem to finish anything so, whatever. It'll get done when it gets done.
In one week and two days I'll be in Texas, yaaay!

the girl who is flooding the gallery

I love 2peas and have been kinda down that I haven't been able to garner any personal validation lately because of my scanner being down, but tonight dh hooked everything up all nice and fixed and I posted 11 lo's! And I tried to be a polite poster and made sure I had no more than one on the front page when I posted the next. Man, what a project! And I didn't even post all of the. SOme I deemed just not "pea-worthy" you know?
Anyway, if you have a chance, go check it out. Ever since I scrapped with the fabulous Jens (Island Jen and JenSmack) I've been inspired! I left out about 6 lo's, but they were fast and simple. I sometimes just feel the need to get them done, so I use tried and true design rather than thinking things to death.
I challenge any scrappers out there to let go of pressure and just do! Get those pages done. They don't have to be magazine worthy, just family worthy. Who are we doing this for anyway?

the girl who is rotfl

Why did Always decide that their new slogan should be "Have a Happy Period" ?

It just makes me laugh. I can't imagine the advertising pitch on that one! And Kotex? Their print advertising has these lovely black and white illustrations of stylized women doing every day activities, but their is always a red dot somewhere in the picture.

ewwww....

I don't know why this subject is on my mind, but I've just been noticing it alot lately.
